Pssst, I Have A Secret

There is something we love about secrets.  The thought of knowing something that someone else may not know is intriguing, it’s fascinating and it can captivate our hearts.  But what if you heard something and then thought, oh my goodness, so and so needs to hear about this.  If our heart isn’t in the right place and depending on what we’ve just heard, it could be considered gossip.

However, I believe that when we hear something about the Father, it’s His desire to share with others.  I believe that He longs to be known.  He longs to share His secrets with us, each of us.  Sharing those secrets with other believers can be affirmation, affirmation that we’ve heard from the Lord.  What a sweet reality that can be!

In Ephesians 1:7-9 we see “in Him, Jesus, we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace which He lavished on us.  In all wisdom and insight He made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His kind intention which He purposed in Him”
Jesus has redeemed us through His blood.  He’s forgiven us and paid our sin debt for us.  And then on top He lavishes his grace onto us and then makes His mysteries known to us.  Knowing that He’s done all of that for us, is rich, it’s full, it’s tender.

I tend to be more critical of myself than others.  You see, I’ve lived with myself all of my life. HA!  Go figure…  I know me.  I know my past and my present.  I know the sins, failures and demeaning ways of days gone by.  And so does God and still, He sent Jesus to cover all of that for me.  It’s tough some times because satan tries really hard to whisper in my ear that I’m not good enough or smart enough or fit enough, you name it and I doubt whether I’m enough.  But God says I am enough because of Jesus.

But here’s one of the dearest things about my pursuit of the Lord; when I’m pursuing Him, He is also pursuing me and when we collide something special happens….  “In ALL wisdom and insight He made known to us the mystery of His will”  He shares the mystery of His will!  Oh beloved, what a precious time.

I want to encourage you to forgive yourself because God has forgiven you.  Accept His grace which He wants to apply liberally and THEN listen.  Quiet your world so that you can hear.  May we be like Samuel and say, “speak, for your servant is listening.”

My heart and prayer is that in our quest to find who we are, what we’ve been created for or even to know we’re good enough, that we turned down the volume of the world so that we can hear God the Father speak tenderly and we can hear Him say, Pssst, I have a secret to tell you.
